COURAGE
Courage is defined as showing strength when a person otherwise would be afraid. When a person is courageous, other people can depend on him or her during difficult times. Courage can also be defined as the ability to do something good without fear or favor. Some people find it difficult to stand by the truth when they feel they cannot get what they want. They tell lies or keep quiet when they should stand up for the truth. Such people are called moral coward and are not very useful to society. Courage requires one to overcome fear. Every community needs courageous people. Society need people that would support what is good and condemn what is bad, judges that would uphold justice without fear , politicians that would stand up for the truth without asking for bribes, students who speaks the truth and depend their rights without being afraid of anyone, and agencies and institution that would depend public morality
TYPES OF COURAGE
- Physical courage: this is the willingness to exercise physical energy to get things done
- Moral courage: this is the ability to say the truth at all times and do what is right without being forced to do so
- Spiritual courage: this is the ability to live by one’s religious convictions
- Civil courage: it is also called social courage, it is defined by many different standards but it is mostly referred to when civilians stand up against something that is deemed unjust, knowing their actions might lead to their death, injury or other negative results
