Election is a concept used in all democratic countries where people are called to make
choices among candidates or
contestants who wish to rule. Therefore it is the process of making choices among available
options of candidates
contesting offices.
Voter can be defined as the qualified and registered citizen willing and ready to vote for
candidates of their choice in
an election. A group of voters are generally called Electorate.
Voting can be defined as the process of casting one’s vote in an election. This could be in
public or private
organizations. Voting can take place within pressure groups; it can also be within or among
political parties trying to
win and run the government
TYPES OF ELECTION
DIRECT ELECTION: this type of election is called direct election because the voters
are called to personally cast
their votes for candidates or the political parties of their choice without anybody
serving as middle man
Indirect Election: in this system, the people elect the member of parliamentarians
will then on behalf of the people,
elect the prime minister and the president
